Fast Forward Therapy
Choose your own limits - Don't let your past choose them
Addressing Emotional Challenges
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Havening Techniques® helps clients to down-regulate their emotions associated with past traumas, phobias, fears, anxieties, and lack of confidence using their physical senses, such as physical touch. This gentle approach does not require the disclosure of sensitive information and can be conducted in person or remotely. The benefits of such therapies are frequently experienced to be long-lasting, and the technique is not known to interfere with medications or other therapies. Havening has also been known to help bring some relief to lasting physical pain and in support of addiction, providing a relatively quick response that is understood to be safe for almost all age groups.
Below are some examples of what could be helped with Havening therapy.
I have a phobia - can you remove that?
A fear of that situation is generally your core safety system keeping you safe from harm for future similar events. Even when logically you can reason that there is no particular harm, that logic doesn’t prevent your brain from taking automatic action, with the associated emotions for that.
It’s a personal response, and another individual exposed to the same conditions may not develop the same protective reaction, or even react at all!
Sometimes a phobia develops from a physical experience, sometimes it’s learned from someone else, like parents, and sometimes it can develop from third parties, such as televised event news.
Flying, confined spaces, creepy crawlies, loud noises; often a targeted therapy can help to calm your response to them.
The key with Havening is that the strength of automatic reaction becomes downgraded by the Client through the process, but without exposure to the object of their fear.
Can Havening help me move forward with my PTSD?
When those memories are activated by an external trigger, harmless or otherwise, your brain’s survival mode kicks in and your body and emotions react with minimal delay.
Unfortunately, this can also give rise to feelings of embarrassment and shame, further avoidance and the potential for reinforcing that behaviour.
Applying Havening to facilitate a Client in dialling down their reaction can allow more focus on the logic, and those suffering from specific traumatic responses can start to regain confidence in their lives.
Where PTSD has been clinically diagnosed, Havening can provide a valuable complementary support to other treatments, but it’s advisable to consult your specialist first.

Pain Relief
It has been shown that the sensations caused by pain could originate from a past trauma, and even continue after physical healing. Although still a developing area, Havening could offer a promising tool for pain relief.

Peter's Vision
Havening is very similar in that it requires investigative skills to find the root of an emotional problem and then using a carefully-considered approach to gently remove the effects and responses to it with long-lasting effect.
Not only do I love to see individuals finally release long-standing anxieties, but I really believe that bringing the confidence-enhancing aspects of therapy into workplaces will further help employers to access support for their key staff without some of the stigma.
I formally trained in how to apply Havening Techniques and I’m now a certified practitioner in this remarkable modality.
Understanding Havening
The Science
The brain effectively posts, and locks into place receptors, the equivalent of “lookouts”, to identify this danger in future so it can take action.
Unfortunately sights, smells, and sounds that might have been present at the original event can also trigger an unwanted defensive response.
The Havening Process
The process involves soothing touch on the face, arms, and hands – by the practitioner, self, or another trusted person – which help to create a safe mental space and visualisation and distraction techniques to allow the healing process to take effect.
The release of calming, natural neurochemicals through the application Havening Touch enables the emotional association with an event or circumstance to be disconnected and permits the brain to logically process the information it receives. The unwanted response no longer needs to happen.
Benefits of Havening
Clients often feel a significant reduction in distress within minutes, experiencing lasting benefits.
In the workplace, Clients can feel more comfortable in making decisions, taking on tasks that they might previously have avoided and be more confident in their own skills.
Whilst Havening Techniques is a powerful tool to help overcome a wide range of emotional problems, as with most other types of therapy, it cannot be guaranteed to deliver ‘cures’.
However the impact of this approach is often very quick and the effects are considered permanent.
